Hi Gary, our first van was a 2002 carioca 10 - recently traded in for a different layout, but I really miss that big bathroom. Good luck with the remap, hopefully it'll address the vans biggest weakness imo, struggling on long inclines. I found that if you didn't change down to 4th before it dropped below 60mph, you were stuffed.

Hi ozwhit

Welcome to MHF and the world of motorhoming. Don't worry about the MHF addiction, many members here were perfectly sane only a few short months ago (not that you'd notice now).

Hope you enjoy your forthcoming ski trip.

will twoo 19 kg propane be enough for the week

If you've found a M/H that will fit two 19kg propane bottles in the locker, we'd all like one please. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hi
Go to batch's wbb site @ 'motorhome meets skiing' he has a section which will answer most of your questions. As far as a generator is concerned we use a Honda 1 Kw. It is light, quiet (56 decibels) a tank full of fuel lasts between 6 to 7 hours depending on altitude, will run a low wattage fan heater. the tv and satellite nice warm 240 volt lights but not at the same time. If you want more on then go for the 2Kw model. I have heard that the Kipor machines are cheaper and just as reliable but slightly noisier. Dont worry everone has them and they all switch them off at about 22.00 hrs, quite civilised really. We eventually went for one gaslow system bottle and a 6Kg propane bottle. This lasted us two weeks no trouble and you can fill up at GPL stations. Waste water? Dont lag the outside tank. Not worth the effort. Take a bucket which fits under the outlet and make sure that you drain the waste tank each night before you retire to bed. You then pour the water away or if it freezes at night you just turn it upside down, tap the botttom and a giant lolly drops out over the drain. It can join all the other lollies to melt in the daytime sun. They all do it! We don't all have the money to afford double floors and insulated tanks. Just a thought take some anti freeze for locks. You know the small sprays. It's a bit embarising when you can't open your door in the morning because the locks are all frozen. A quick squirt at night allows you to open the door next day.

LOts of luck Ned

Hi Gary and welcome congrats on the new MH you will enjoy it I'm sure.

There are now quite a lot of us on here that have experience of ski-motorhoming, Batch's website will of course be helpful it's a really good initiative, and post your questions on here try and be as specific as you can to get the best response and don't forget the search facility.

First tip fit at least one or more extra leisure batteries

Re. Austria do be aware that wild camping is, as I understand it, generally a bit harder than in France or even Switzerland or Italy, they tend to encourage campsites, but I'm sure there will be valid exceptions.

hth

Ruth
