Currently down on the aire at Albir (and have been for over a month). Free wi-fi is a nice added extra but I find that reception improves no end with the dongle on the extension (just re-read that and it sounds like some sort of exotic sexual practice!). Anyone thinking of visiting here in future might like to ring in advance. Patrick, the owner, told me yesterday that his business plan envisaged the place being about 60% full at this stage (he opened in September) but he has been full - or almost full - for the last few weeks with no advertising, just word of mouth through forums in various countries.

We're using a home-made high gain antenna to pick up a better wi-fi signal. It's not complicated and uses the Belkin dongle, but enhances the reception and makes it directional. The basis of the antenna is a vegetable steamer and it's very easily popped onto the roof through the vent and safely removed and packed away (thrown onto the driver's seat) when we retire for the night!

There seems to be more magic than science involved and I speak as a scientist.
Hi G. I am inclined to agree. but I carry enough bits and pieces about, so If I get good access I use it if not c'est la vie. not had any problems so far.
Cheers Sid
I need an extension cable with a mini usb at one end & a mini usb plug on the other end. I've got the 3 (Three) 1Gb @ £10/mth. & hang the dongle on the rearview mirror with the laptop on my knees. jackeen

I am in Almeria on campsite WiFi @ just 5 euros a week. No ariel needed. A decent laptop with WiFi is all you should need.
Maybe I should be in Alora as free is always better.
As we are going to Almeria (Camping Roquetas) from Javea next month,
would you tell me which campsite your at as we are paying €40.00/mth.
When I posted I was at Camping Roquetas and paid €5 a week. I am now at Cabo Pino near Marbella and it is €20 a week a complete rip off.
