I have a pretty high spec PC, bought last year, and running Vista Ultimate.

Lately it had slowed down a lot, I was having trouble connecting to the internet, would not switch off most times, and was generally being a ba*tard.

I run Registry Mechanic, which is pretty good, but after looking in the latest Computer Buyer mag I downloaded a trial version of the above from www.tune-up.com

I have found it to be the best bit of maintenence software kit I have ever used, and I now seem to have a new PC again. I will be paying for the full version (grrr), and you may find it well worth trying.

HTH someone
Paul

Paul, was this a head-to-head review, or a separate one. I have system mechanic which on a quick glance looks to be a similar programme, hence my question, if it was a head-to-head with other programmes what were they. I am downloading a version to have a look as I type this, so thank you. I have a paid-for version of SM so not sure if this is any better.

Carol

Hi Carol
Yes-head to head with various other maintenance software.
Registry Mechanic was Best Buy, and this one was a Good Buy.
Already have Reg Mechanic, but this one seems to do most of the maintenance jobs, whilst Reg Machanic only does one (The Registry).

Your System Mechanic does not seem to have been included.

As stated, well chuffed with the job done so far on my PC.
Regards
Paul

PC Check up is a good free (mostly) download.
Any comments please?
