Can anyone please help me with links to sites and any information for doing self-build van conversions.
A friend of mine at work is interested in doing his own van conversion, if anyone has any links or information they could possibly give me, would they kindly pm me with them

Hi,
I did a self build several years ago. The sbmcc.co.uk is certainly a very good site for ideas and advice etc. Please feel free to check out my website also - I have included links to all the sites I found most useful whilst doing my conversion and Im sure you will find these very helpful.

Thanx for that. Im currently using a Kodak Z740. Its only 5.0 megapix, but has a x10 optical zoom with maybe another x8 digital zoom - Im very pleased with it.

Jon

As well as the advice re sbmcc, my advice would be to visit as many show as poss. armed with notepad, tape measure and camera. Then send for all the catalogues you can...Rainbow,CAK, Autokraft etc etc. Look in the back pages of MMM for suppliers. Choose your van carefully, no point in putting good gear in an old banger, remember many will have been thrashed by "white van man". Consider if you really do need shower rooms etc. they take up space, are only used a few mins per day, and you have to heat and carry all that water. Secret is planning, planning and more planning. I'm on my third home build , having progressed from an old T25 VW to a 4 year old LWB high top Transit. I have been able to make a handsome profit on each one, which has financed the next, and it's very satisfying and rewarding to get EXACTLY what you want for your hard earned dosh. However, you do need to make it to as professional a standard as possible, otherwise it makes a sale very difficult. Good luck. Mike.
