This is my first time on here so please bear with me.
I have recently acquired a 2004 Autosleeper Nuevo ES and am thinking of fitting a Fiamma 200CL bike rack.
Is this a fairly straight forward job (I am reasonably proficient at DIY and mechanics)?
There is a roof access ladder already fitted so will have to fit rack off centre.
I believe Autosleeper build timber into the construction - should bike rack mounting bolts pass right through rear wall or is it sufficient to fix to the timber that is built in?
I also have an annoying squeal on tickover on the Peugeot 2.2 HDI engine which disappears when RPM increased and when engine is warm. The noise also disappears if tail pipe is held very tightly which leads me to suspect exhaust mountings but as yet have not been able to pin-point it.
Has anyone else experienced this noise and/or found a solution?

I've had both models of Nuevo, both with Fiamma bike racks but they were fitted by the dealer.
There are two at least traps for the unwary. 1). I know certain models of rack either don't fit or are difficult, and your ladder may add even more restrictions. 2). Autosleepers do embed wooden strengthening blocks, so it would be a good idea to know exactly where they are.
I would suggest you phone or email Charles Trevelyan at Autosleepers Customer Care. You will have the contact details in the habitation manual.
Hi you can always use a hammer/ VERY light taps to find where strengh points are, listen for different sound, self tapping screws and sikaflex type addhesive will do the job nice, but remmember to seal the screws!

Hi Robbo, I always fit the Pro C on the Nuevos as that is what the body is designed to take, Steve

I have used a stud finder to locate suitable fixing points
Fixings should be through bolted and Fiamma/Omnistor supply the correct fittings with the bike rack
Self tappers and adhesive are not recommended, the rack is expected to support a max 60kg!!

hi robbo,
i had an omnistore bike rack fitted by omni agent. was not impressed to see that it was screwed on with frame fixers, tho they were 80mm long.
i called into autosleepers factory to buy some parts, they said that this is a quite normal method now. if you are near the factory they fit accessories. if you decide to bolt thru. take care not to overtighten the bolts, on my nuevo there is a gap between the outer skin and the timber which could compress and possibly crack the body.

Thanks everyone for all the useful tips - think I'll go for the Pro C rack and give Autosleeper a ring for more advice on the fitting as there seem to be several schools of thought but don't want to pay for someone else to do something that I am capable of doing myself.
as regards the squeal on tickover - my first thouhts were belts but I think I have eliminated these and noise definitely dissappears when tail pipe held rigid - will have to get front up on ramps to try to find the culprit - just wondered if anyone else had had a similar noise on this chassis.

Sorry for late response. Yes I have the same noise from the tail-pipe area of my 2.2 l Peugeot Nuevo. Once the engine has warmed up it disapears, so I have stopped worrying about it.
