I will definately be going full time in a few years' time but can't quite get my head round the insurance issue. I will be selling our house (which we are never going to own anyway) and effectively move in to my sister in laws house or at least one room of it which will contain our non disposable items (whatever they might be). We will have a rent book and a nominal (notional!) rent will change hands every month, we will be on the electoral roll and will use this address for admin, mail redirect, NHS etc. Will this arrangement satisfy the insurers? The address is in NI which is a slight complication as the MH will never go there and would be placed in storage while we fly there for a few weeks per year. I really don't want to end up knowing that I am pulling a fast one with the consequent risk of having an invalid policy.

Any comments or advice welcomed.

As long as you have your van and driving licence registered at a UK address, Comfort seem to be happy with this. I've just got everything registered at a friends house, my post goes there, and I occasionally drop in to collect it. It's in the village I used to live in, so still have the same doctor and dentist. From what I've learned on MHF, Comfort are the only insurers who will cover fulltimers. They certainly aren't cheap, but you can discuss it all with them without being underhand about anything.

That will be ok, dont see problems. also it keeps your credit ref good/ or bad being on E/Roll. you always have 3rd basic party in eurozone anyway, but really you sould not give up your home as its your safety net if you want credit, let it out?

I've had it with UK property, its a roller coaster nightmare (and very expensive) Always rented upto now with the military, bought my first house a few years ago and frankly feel a little trapped - I can see us renting a place back in Germany where I spent my somewhat formative years, oddly we both regard Germany as home.
