Hi all.
I was reading somewhere that Golf cannot be played in Germany, because of some License?[called a Platzreife] The Platzreife is actually a legal requirement to play golf in Germany. Does anyone know anything about this???/

I'm somewhat loth to try and give you a definitive answer to your question. I live in Germany and play golf with my son on an irregular basis. I am not a member of a club - a very expensive option. Visitors are generally accepted on production of a handicap certificate but very often one is not asked at all. Most clubs, in my limited experience, are happy to accept visiting golfers. The simplest solution is to telephone the club and book a tee time and ask the question. Apart from anything else you don't want to arrive on a tournament day. Green fees vary considerably but are generally less than winter rates in Spain.

PhredC and Boff.
Thanks for info. No use bringing clubs if you cannot play. Never heard this before. We THINK we are going to the Mozel region next month. Neil likes a game of golf.
Thanks again.

Hi again,

well, maybe I was a bit too pessimistic:

I have entered "Platzreife" in the German Wikipedia, and found some infos: "Platzreife" is NOT a legal requirement. It is a scheme that is set up by the German Golfer's Association, and only clubs that have signed in to this scheme actually apply it. The idea is to only let players onto the courses who have a certain minimum experience.

However I have absolutely no idea what German clubs require from foreign guests. Maybe you can find out via the association, the
