yes your appliances should work; you will need a new cylinder & the appropriate regulator for that.

I took my butane cylinders into a local motorhome supplier and they changed the bottles over for me at no cost. Only had to buy regulator.

Hi Drumshade,

I am assuming your bottles are Calor. You can swap Butane for propane and back again at any time. Is your regulator attached to the gas cylinder or is it attached to the motorhome?

In which case then you will need a new regulator for propane, but make sure you keep the old butane one too.

hi drumshade
i personally found butane asier to get in summer and propane in winter so had 2 of each until i changed to refillables. Do you know that butane freezes at )eg C in winter so you will need propane for winter as this freezes at something silly like minus 40c C

In truth Calor freezes at temperature very much lower than 0 Celsius. However at around 6 Celsius the liquid stops gassing off making it useless at these temperatures.

If a relatively large amount of gas is drawn off at low ambient temperatures the temperature of the liquid and gas inside the bottle will drop due to the cooling effect that takes place when the high pressure gas is reduced to low pressure gas as it passes through the regulator allowing local freezing.

Because of this cooling effect due to the expansion of the gas there is no point whatsoever in lagging a bottle as the cooling effect will be taking place underneath the lagging.
