This may sound like a daft question, so apologies beforehand!

Does anyone know whether it possible to connect a Nokia 6100 mobile phone to an iPaq 2210 via the IR connection? All I want to do is occasionally download the odd e-mail or two from the same dial-up account that my home pc connects to. I'm sure I read somewhere that it can be done, but can't for the life of me find any information of how to go about doing it.

If there is an idiots guide out there, could someone point me in the direction.

Much appreciated

Chris

Hi
To answer your question is it possible? yes it is, do I know how ? No but it can be done.

I checked with my son who has the same model Ipaq and and has done this with a couple of his phones however he is currently doing it using Bluetooth.

I'm sure a bit more research on the net will give you the asweres you want.

Successful hunting

Ken

Cheers Ken, I thought it could be done, but so far have drawn a blank. I guess I'll have to carry on searching.

Hi Chris
Try Start. Settings.Connections, add a new modem connection, hayes compatable on com1 for cable, or generic IrDA for IR. enter the number you want it to ring, next fill in your normal user name & password and then finish.
This should work although I am using bluetooth on com 6 I sometimes connect my garmin gps to the ipaq and it connects to com 1 like a serial port if I used ir it would connect to com2 by the way you must line up the IR windows, personally I would rather use a cable to connect, sold by many inc ebay

Thanks Ken, I'll give it a try

Rolling Eyes I hadn't twigged that that was a choice for IR in the modem options, and it wasn't covered in any help.

much appreciated
