The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be.

Spent several months thinking and deciding what we wanted, made up our minds then went to the NEC in Feb and threw the whole plan out of the window. Made sure that we stuck to our original budget, though. It was going to be so easy to spend upwards of 40K..........

Maybe next time round, but this time we wanted something that did the job that we wanted and then we can learn from that.

We went to a dealer fairly close by, looked at all their vans, took all the advice we were given about not making a rush decision, and were on our way out of the yard.
Then we spotted in the corner of the yard; IT!
We were soon the proud owners of an Autosleepers Topaz.
We knew the minute we saw it and we still love it.

We converted one of our work vans an old LDV 350 panel van years ago in 2 weeks. We used this for 9 years. During the last 4 years whilst using the LDV we toured the shows, and most of the dealers we past, looking at things we wanted and didn’t want, also looking on the web. We nearly bought an American one, so up to west croft motorhomes for a hands on feel, only to realize the build quality wasn’t up to much, although we did like the under floor storage and the graphics, also we liked the stainless steel wheels so it wasn’t a wasted journey.
We loved the German Concorde style but they tend to waste space (front seating didn’t swivel).
With 4 years of researching we came to the conclusion make our own, as with 4 children and mainly the lack of space in British vans, ie selling them as 4 or 5 berths but being unable to carry enough kit for that amount of people. We have what we call the perfect solution.
So for us it was not a rush job, the van now 5 years research to build finish.

Caravans, normally spur of the moment. When we changed to MH took at least two days to make up our minds. Second MH took 5 minutes, third MH took the opening of the habitation door.
