Heart in mouth....... wondering if we did the right thing....... picking the "new" van up on friday. Already squared it with the neighbours - next door was horrified as apparently her husband had been talking about getting one for months. These things are addictive.

Looking forward to it all.

Congratulations Duxdeluxe on your imminent arrival. Very Happy

I recall the excitement of collecting our previous holiday homes, be they tents, caravans or motorhomes. Very Happy

Anyone buying a motorhome is entering into a lifestyle which allows freedom, flexibility, convenience, a chance to appreciate our wonderful world. Very Happy

I would ask you to promise one thing:
Please remember, a motorhome is not just for the summer; it's for the whole year through! Laughing

In our first MH, Auntie Sandra and I travelled 40K miles in 6 years; in our second, we did 23K in less than 3 years; our current MH only has 1342 miles on it so watch this space!!

Enjoy!!

I sail dinghies all the year around and one of the principle uses is to attend regattas with the boat behind (an Osprey, complete with rubber duck if anyone is interested....) as well as holidays etc.

Mrs. Deluxe is having issues already as too many places to go which means it's hard to decide - we will just have to work our way through them and also note well some locations mentioned here (Ravenglass for instance, somehwere that I would never have thought of).

Thanks to everyone on here

Welcome duxdeluxe,

It is such a huge thing, buying your first Motorhome. Not only in terms of how much it costs, but how much it changes your life.

We bought our first MH last August and spent a couple of nervous weeks wondering, like you, if we'd 'done the right thing'.

After the first couple of outings, we knew that our MH would bring us so much pleasure in the years to come and all our worries soon disappeared. The freedom and flexibility it offers us is wonderful.

Hope all goes well on Friday! Very Happy

Stimpy

Picked it up today. Last 3 letters of reg is BHU so already nicknamed "Boo" from monsters inc. Drove 200 miles back home and was quite nice on a long journey, if a bit gutless going uphill. As I'm going to use her for towing my racing dinghy I've already booked in a remap to up the power so that is sorted.

The biggest surprise was the neighbours...... I had anticipated issues and so had pre warned them out of courtesy, but spent the first ten minutes outside answering a barrage of interested questions. One neighbour had to drag her husband away as he (so it turns out) has always wanted one.......

Tight fit through the drive gates (the MH fitted but the mirrors didn't) but easy enough to reveres in and park up against the garage door without need for someone to guide me back. Might still get a reversing camera though.

Looking forward to fitting out to our own wants and getting on the road......

If anyone was driving their MH up the A1 this afternoon and saw a grinning idiot coming south, it was me! I tried to wave at everyone - which I like. Just like being back on a motorbike, without the knee scraping fun around the corners!
