I tow a Smart car on a Brian James trailer and can't find a suitable weighbridge to check axle loads with the trailer attached as all the weighbridges near me have sloping approach ramps which cause reading errors with trailer sitting on the slope.

I seem to recall from my dim and distant past schooling something about moments and levers that could be used to calculate the impact on motorhome axle loading when a downward force is applied at the towbar by the trailer!

Given the following data is anybody out there clever enough to tell me what impact (approximately) the trailer will have on front and rear axle loading? Logic would tell me that the rear axle loading will increase but the front will decrease but I would like to know by roughly how much.

Measurements with no trailer attached:
Front axle - 1580kg
Rear axle - 2190kg
Wheelbase - 3600mm
Rear overhang - 2250mm
Total vehicle length - 6800mm
Noseweight of trailer with Smartie onboard = 66kg

Any help would be appreciated before I set off on an extended search for a suitable weighbridge. Thank you.

Thanks Dave - I spent ages last night searching the forum but obviously used the wrong key words. Using your formula I end up 3kg inside my max rear axle loading so I think I'll have to have a thorough clear out at the back end of the van to be on the safe side!
