Hi everyone.

Has anyone used one of these to suction an aerial mast to the side of the van?

I know spykal mentioned it in the past but he had not got round to trying one. Any ideas?

Tim

Hi tim

Yes it was me who suggested using one, I have tried it and it works just fine , just find a length of aluminium pole that fits inside the handle. My motorhome is all GRP and very strong so it can be used on any bit of flat surface... but a friend is using one ( single sucker type see the picture in the thread below) on a more normal constructed van on his small sat dish...he just makes sure that it is fitted near the edge of a panel where the body is stronger.

Have a look at this thread it shows one in use ... sorry that it took a while to find it Rolling Eyes

Brilliant idea.

My sat kit has half of that to hold a sat dish, two would be much better.

I have just made necessary bracket and clips to utilise the glass lifter.

Drive trials have proved successful and has removed the necessity of yet more holes in the van roof. Coax and F connectors are just underneath the side skirt.

Steve

Can you possibly upload a photo to show how the clips are used on the lifter (and, presumably, a mast). I would be grateful. I am thinking it would be easy to stop the mast slipping through by using a jubilee clip just above the lifter but how do you stop the aerial turning in the wind?

Regards

Tim

Annoyingly, all the surfaces inside our Hymer (garage & habitation) are crinkly effect ply wood and suckers don't stick!

The outside is sheet aluminium so I quite like the idea of the large suckers - thanks for the tip!
