I had no problems this morning but I did last night, site "froze" at around 10.50pm couldn't get in for 20 minutes, others in the chatroom were reporting problems and being zapped several times although I managed to stay in until 12.30 when I gave up ! It was slow on the homepage refresh though (even in chat I keep going back to homepage to see if there are any interesting posts). This was noticeable as I am now on broadband...

hi all
yep was a problem with the site, well not actually the site but the provider.
got these two emails from them:-
Dear Customer,
We are currently investigating a fault, which saw the Maidenhead facility partially loose connectivity for 15 minutes starting at 18:46
Service has now been fully restored, however the cause currently looks like an MPLS fault between our two MHD <> LON fibres which failed to swing into fallback mode when the MHD<>SLOUGH<>LON fibre was taken out of service.
We are working with NEOS Networks to identify the actual cause.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Dear Customer,
A customer’s server experienced a very large DDoS attack this morning, starting at approx. 10am, which caused connection difficulties to the Maidenhead facility. This situation was compounded by the fact we had disabled our redundant link ready for the scheduled router maintenance this evening. We worked as quickly as possible with our transit suppliers to NULL route the IP addresses in question, and we then continued to bring our redundant connection and router back into service to alleviate the problems.
We are still continuing with our maintenance work this evening, which will enable our routers to be able to cope in such situations without the network performance suffering, as it did today.
Connectivity is now fully restored, and we will be contacting the customer in due course who’s server was attacked.
PoundHost apologise for any inconvenience caused this morning, however DoS attacks are something that is generally out of our normal control.
