Well it always going to be down to the dealers discretion but there are supposedly severe penalties for:

a) the dealer if it can be shown he has not made sufficient checks on the validity of the claim. Even with my wife's obvious disablilty we still had to produce evidence of entitlement and sign a declaration.

b) the purchaser for making a false declaration and vat evasion.

Unless someone is absolutley certain they fit the requirements I would advise always seek the advice of the published help lines.

Hi all, Me and the Wife bought our MH last year, Swift Suntor 600S, and as the Wife is disabled, and a wheelchair user we got the van vat free, and adapted into the bargain with winch, ramps, small wheeled chair to fit ramps, all for the reduced price 25k.

The only thing the Wife had to do was to get a letter from her local GP stating that she was a wheelchair user, and this qualified her for the vat free price with HM Customs and Excise.

Hope this in some way helps

Mike
