1988 Hymer B544 based on a Peugeut J5 chasis. 2.5 Diesel (non-turbo).
On the way back from the lakes last weekend battery light came on. Goes off when revs drop and a 3rd party volt meter on the dash is showing IRO 17volts when revved which to me suggests that the voltage regulator is shot.
Some research has suggested it may be incorporated into the alternator but as the alternator is brand spanking new just before purchase I'd be surprised. Battery also brand new bought by us.
I can't see a regulator anywhere. Anyone got any tips on the location of the unit if it is seperate?
Any help appreciated.
J

Although alternator looked new we ended up having a new one fitted by an electrical specialists locally. I did ask the question about replacing just the voltage regulator but apparantly not possible on that model these days so we have new alternator at cost of £170.00 fitted. About what i'd expect.
Also noticed that by driving it home 100miles with the voltage reg not working I've now got a lovely heat bubble under my warning light on the dash! Hope that's all it tried to cook!
