There's been a number of threads extolling the virtues of Remoska cooking pans but has anyone tried a Bravoska? - similar to Remoska but looks a bit more flexible.
There are a few on ebay shops.

They both sound very much like to electric frying pans that were around several years ago, they were said to do all the same things.

I'll be interested to hear everyone's comments Smile

i bought a remoska followed by more recently the Bravoska. I prefer the Bravoska myself bit more sturdy in cast iron and you dont need a special recipe book as you use it the same as any oven. its great in the camper and useful extra cooker in the kitchen - got mine on ebay for £70

Like Naturelover we have both. The more recent is the Bravoska which appears to be better engineered, time will tell.
I did become a dab hand at repairing the Remoska creating only a 20 minute delay in the meal.
I think similar problems with the Bravoskas would create a bin it situation.

The electric frying pan was a great boon to caravanners. From what I remember the heating elements were in the pan itself and so food cooked from underneath. I understand the Remoska has the heating element in the lid. Not sure this is so efficient.

We have a wonderful thing called a George Foreman Contact Roasting Machine. It looks like a Teflon lined motorcycle helmet and has a removable dish that fits it. We have cooked chickens, roasts, casseroles, breads, chops, steaks and so on in it and it is wonderful.

Trouble is we bought the last one in England ! The firm stopped making them and have no plans to resume. We got ours for £19 from our local electrical shop and found this when we went to get another for home use. We have tried to persuade George Foreman Inc. It gets rave reviews on American websites and I'm sure would go down a storm if available.

Hi, I found this forum through a search engine and have perused your selection of bravoska/remoska threads with interest.
Rather than clutter your forum with yet another one I hope it is OK to use this old one.

----------

I have ordered an XL size Bravoska today largely based on peoples experiences here.

I have however a few questions (the Bravoska chap wasn't very helpful and their pdfs are not working) I hope that is OK

1. What would be the height internally (roughly)
2. Do any of you put small baking trays or dishes inside it when cooking?
3. Can you use disposable foil containers in it or line it with anything before cooking.
4. Say Pizza do you have to put it straight in or can you put it in something?
5. Does it have the lid condensation between the layers shorting the unit problem that the Remoska owners on here have reported?
6. Anything else I should know (I have read the appropriate threads promise)

I'm a bit scared of it and I haven't got it yet.Embarassed

Thanks
Sara

Don't know about actually using it (useless bloke) but the XL is rated at 1700watts. If my maths is right that is over 7amps, quite a bit over the limit in a lot of Spanish/Portugese sites

Mike

Just got the ruler out - internal total height ie upper and lower just under 160mm

Glad you have had a reply to the height question as I didn't know there was a choice ours is the 1200W so we are under 6amps but we have never had a problem even in Italy.

You can put a grill inside after all its only a very small oven.
We have cooked Pitza's but we sometimes use the micrwave for that.
( Idon't like them so I cook them for Val)
Our Bravoska is very definately not non-stick so if cooking with the contents Hot end Bottom a liberal coating of oil is required. I cook mainly with the top hot. I do use it as an electric frying pan.

The engineering on the Bravoska IMHO much better that the Remoska and so far we have had no Electrical problems. I am a dab hand at stripping Remoska lids and Drying them out but I thought they had rectified this problem by using different elements.

Nothing at all to be afeared of just chuck it in and switch on can't think of any popular dish we have'nt cooked except I don't do cakes.

Remember the hot half gets very hot and a large part of your van is plastic so if the two happen to make contact one will melt, the Van.

Val buggered a pair of cocktail cabinet doors wit our Remoska. (blonde moment)

Thats another reason why I do the camping cooking Razz
