Hi Folks

I am currently converting a Peugueot Boxer Longwheeelbase into a camper, anyone got any tips?

I have so far insulated the walls and ceiling and installed a 3/4 bed and a bench seat. Would like to put in diesel heater but hasn't happened yet as i need to complete the interior.

Hi

Welcome to MotorhomeFacts, by the way. We do have a few self-builders on here!

I've moved this topic to the "Self Build" forum.

There is an online group called

. Lots of examples and self-build diaries on there.

Hello, I was thinking of putting a diesel powered heater in my van as well, but after weeks of research I have now decided against it. Almost every item I read mentioned the noise they make, especially on start up,some people even stating that they felt they were disturbing other campers in nearby vans, and the fact that they use a considerable amount of electrical power to fire up the burner. I'm now going to fit a Propex gas fired heater. They're quieter, more environmentally friendly, and use far less electricity. OK, they use gas that has to be stored, but the way diesel is going up in cost, the inconvenience of having to replace a gas bottle a little more frequently is hardly a big deal. Regards, Mike.

Sorry, forgot to mention the reliability situation. Far less moving parts in Propex, and have you seen the price of Eberspacher spares?.Mike.

Hi Mike, don't rush in for the propex,on high they are just as noisey! Laughing I have had a diesil -propex -and now on a trama not much in them so go on cost. All 3 warm the van fine, after 10 mins on high you can put them on low which is (for us)quiet. On high it is a bit like a distant jet taking off Laughing Knollbeck caravans have a trauma for sale at £250 new but old stock, probably a couple of yrs old.ALL PARTS FOR YOUR CONVESION ARE EXPENSIVE Laughing Laughing

Now that's thrown the cat amongst the pigeons....I'd finally settled on a Propex (Truma is out as I don't have the space) after hours of deliberation. Anyway thanks for your input, to be honest, I think it will still have to be the Propex, for it's simplicity and ease of fitting. The conversion is actually totally finished, I just can't help fiddling, and adding bits! Cheers, Mike.
