Hi all,
We will be fulltiming in Europe from the 10th of June. Can anybody tell me if we have to take original vehicle documents with us or can we take copies and leave the originals safely with a family member in the UK. I'm not keen on taking the originals in case our MH should get stolen.
Any info would be appreciated
John

Dont blame you for wanting duplicates, but, as I rember form other threads close to this topic, you need the originals.
I think it was yesterday that a thread suggested various methods of taking copies of documents overseas, but, still the need for originals was posted often.
I was wondering if a Copy of the documentation, notorised by a notary... .....would be acceptable until originals could be delivered?
someone clever needs to answer that.
not me then.

seems wierd doesnt it, you have to have the originals, so you can prove its yours and legal, then of course it make it sooooo much easier for a thief to dispose of
I think that its easy to overcome, but needs a directive from the EU.
Vehicle documents are required when in member states, a certified copy will in normal circumstances apply, but when required, by a court officer, in writing, original documents should be provided as soon as practicable, and in any case within 14 days.
sorted...
sometimes. I surprise myself.

We keep copies of all documents separate from the originals in the van as well as copies of them all at home. Should the originals not be required (eg some campsites like a copy of your passport) then we use the copies.
Should we be unfortunate enough to lose the originals we hope that the copies at home will speed replacement as well as reminding us what was in the pile lost!!
