As I may have said before I have a Navman 4410, which comes with a full set of European maps on discs. I use it in conjunction with my iPAQ 2210 which has many other uses, including being able to browse the web and send andreceive e-mails via my cell phone.

kontiki, good links from you, read the usermanual for the c330 and it looks as easy as the tomtom to operate, i am thinking this may be the one to go for as long as i can find it at a good price when it comes out. Although haven't looked properly at navman and medion yet.
We use navigator 4 loaded on a laptop with a gps receiver which plugs into the usb socket. Bought it from action-replay . We plug in a pair of usb speakers & find it very good. If you don't like the look of the road it sends you down carry on & it calculates another route. Also you then have your laptop with you to down load pix, watch a dvd on a wet night. If you already have a laptop then this is the cheapest way to go.

Just buy a Pocket PC and scour eBay for TomTom3 for £30 including all the European maps. Don't forget a GPS dongle - expansys.com are doing one today for £90. So all told, you could be set up for about £250.
Dell are doing great deals on PDAs at the moment. Then you can take the PDA away from the van and do wi-fi internet surfing, watch some movies, use it as a phone with SkyPe... word processing, you name it...
Of course, you could just be soft and buy TomTomGo...

I can't find the english bit either, however, there is a list of Aires coordinates you can download.. Go to the 'recherche une aire' prompt and at the bottom of this page is the lists mentioned, quite handy i would think..
Hi,
I bought a PDA with inbuilt GPS antenna, software and car kit for around 400 euros (270 pounds) It was from Mitag and the software was from Alturion

While I had it it was very useful especially on international journeys. With the major roads included it gets you most places but I found that here in Belgium It is a god send as road names are often difficult to find.
Unfortunately when my car was stolen the PDA was in it. So now it feels like my right hand has been cut off. I even miss the annoying voice.
So I am currently upgrading the software and when I get my van I will us my laptop with a cable antenna (about 90 pounds) to operate it.
If you have a PDA or a laptop the just buy the software and antenna.
The only really disappointing thing is the coverage of Ireland (they do say partial but only major towns are covered)
One really good thing is the confidence to go off route on a whim. I southern germany I sa the autoban completely choca block so I headed across country. I had a great drive over the mountains without a map in sight. But to do this the european maps (2 CD's) are a must.
