Hi I am going to have a go at completing the Keswick half Marathon again. I last did it a few years ago when I was a fair bit lighter ( I seem to have put a lot of weight on since we have had the M/H, too many BBQ's and tins of larger Very Happy ).

I was just wondering if anyone else is going to do it or fancys a challenge. You can still pre enter on enter on the day.

Morning,
I never actually saw this post of yours but remember mentioning it a few weeks ago. We tried to book onto Castlerigg about 6 weeks ago but it was full so ended up staying at Sandra's mum & dad's static near Lancaster instead!.

How did you go on in the 1/2? I'd have kept an eye out for you if I'd realised (& known what you look like / what number you were?). I thought it was a great race, fantastic scenery although it was a bit warm for quite a while, not that you should complain!

The 'S' bends near Cat Bells were a bit of a drag but once on the top it was great. Did you see the Autotrail stuck at the bottom of the hill with the AA van - anyone owning up to that one? To be fair I would guess the chap just needed a run (pardon the pun) at the hill which he couldn't get because of us lot!

Managed it in 1:32:23, which I'm well pleased with. Only 3 weeks to Edinburgh marathon now Confused

Hi Richard and Chris

I ran the Three Forts Half Marathon on Sunday. Not a very fast time 2:05, but it was all off road and over monster hills. I haven't done any training apart from interval training, 5k time trials (slowly!!) and one 2 hour run so it was pretty tough going.

I can't make it to Keswick unfortunately but good luck to you both,

Julie Very Happy

Hi I was Number 918, and well slower than you super fast time. It has been a while since I have ran 13 miles so it took me 2h 10 mins. Last time I ran the keswick it took me 1h 47 mins but that was a few years ago.

well mabe next year if my diet goes to plan I will b e back with a quicker time. I blam the M/H way of life. Too many BBQ's and tin of beer!

Yes I saw the Auto Trail, seemed a funny place to park!?

Richard...

Thanks Julie, it's a good job you can't make it coz it was Sunday just gone - you'd have been running on your lonesome!!! Very Happy .

Well done on your 1/2 to, good result that.

Richard it doesn't matter (other than to yourself!) what your time is to be fair, you were there & got round. It was a race that I had to banish to some personal demons on as I blew up completely on a race a bit ago & had to get one under my belt before Edinburgh, mus say I feel better now!

BBQ & tin's of beer, sounds great. My only problem is I made the stupid promise (to try & get more sponsorship brass out of my mates!) of not drinking in May until the marathon, jeez how I regretted that this weekend with the good weather & being in the pub after the 1/2 .............. Sad

Which brings me to a little tale of the benefits of not drinking...... THERE BL**DY AREN'T ANY!!!!

After the race we went to the pub for some soup and a sarnie (& a beer for Sandra - she's so supportive!) & I ordered a pint of Blackcurrant & soda - guess how much?

THE BARGAIN PRICE OF £2.60!! FOR BLACKCURRANT & SODA, not even lemonade!

Thieving bar steward, where's the incentive not to get leathered off Cumberland Ale there? Evil or Very Mad
