Hi Folks
Just bought the Swify Royal 590 in a private sale. Thought that we'd done all the checks (damp meter, floor, engine etc) then noticed that the shower tray is cracked. Does anyone know where we can buy a replacement, whether they are easy to remove/refit. or whether we should call in the 'experts'. If the latter, can anyone recommend a reputable company in the West Midlands.
Thanks for any advice.

| Try contacting Branfibre.co.uk, I understand they are very good at doing a repair and are reasonable priced ..based near Banbury I seem to recall. |

We used to have a Swift Royal (MRB registration) which we traded in 5 years ago when we bought our Suntor EB.
That had a cracked shower tray (just inside the door).
As for as I remember the tray was on a frame and there was a gap underneath though which pipes ran.
We investigated a repair and Bill Lumpton (from Ireland) had repaired some shower trays and gave us advice (which we never used).
He used a preparation which is used to make prosthetics and comes in 2 parts which you mix together just before use before it forms a hard material.
These were the instructions as far as I remember them.
Drill a hole at either end of the crack to prevent it getting longer.
Prize open and wedge open the crack.
Pour in the filling material.
Remove the wedges and press down the shower tray base allowing surplus goo to come through the crack and holes.
Wipe off surplus and weight the tray down.
When dry scrape/sand lightly the surface to remove surplus filler. |

Hi Preacherned,
Had a Swift Royal 540 with a cracked tray. I got a replacement from Swift via one of their dealers. I had tried for months previously to find dealers take all the details & never getting back. Chasing them up & them denying any knowledge of the original request - extremely frustrating.
Then, as we want to sell the van, tried again with our local dealer. They asked for the serial number of the van, looked up on their computer, said Swift still stocked them (van is a 1995 model) relieved me of £100 deposit & would call me when it had arrived.
Two weeks later (& a further£160) I had a brand new tray!!!
Fitting was relatively easy, desealing & removing the sink unit. Then removing the shower tray, which came out in pieces (a combination of the cracks & the mastic underneath it). Cleaned all the mastic off with white spirit. Offered the new tray in position & found that some of the edges needed trimming slightly to get a better fit (gaps too large in some places).
Once happy with the fit I squirted some expanding foam on the floor, put the tray in place & rested some heavy paint tins on a towel on the tray to make sure it all stayed down OK. Went & had copious amounts of tea while it went orf!
Sealed the tray up, put the sink unit back, sealed that up too - voila!!
best of luck
