Hi anyone had experience of Saga's European Breakdown .

I already have UK breakdown cover with CC (Mayday) but need European cover in the summer; can get holiday period cover (14 days) from Carefree (C&CC) for £80+ but Saga have quoted me £86 for full years UK and European breakdown cover; vehicle is 10 years old.

Saga's price is good but have only used Carefree in past.

Thanks
Pam

Had to use them last year. Exhaust silencer fell off 2km from the ferry at Dunkerque after a 3 month tour! Phoned Saga. They rang back after about 5mins and told me to expect help within 1 hour. Breakdown truck arrived after about 45mins. In torrential rain the guy,who was lying in a torrent under the van 'wired up' the exhaust and we were on our way, lasted all the way back to Cumbria.
Good service, although haven't renewed as our insurance includes European breakdown and recovery.

Hi had trouble about two years ago in France with our Bambi when the prop shaft fell apart. Picked up off motorway in about 1/2 hour. Taken to garage, taxi sent out to take us to pick up free hire car. Given about seven nights in hotel rooms free. Kept informed but too dear to replace gear box etc which was also damaged. Bambi was left in France. All in all very good service and still insured with them. Cheers

Judging by the spelling more likely from that other forum!

There were several trees in the forest covered in the stars; from local infant and junior school children; some wanted usual christmas toys; some wanted better health for mum, dad, grandparents or siblings; some wanted peace in the world!!
This star was amongst them and I thought " that's what most of us on MHF would wish".

I chose it as part of my avatar and left the spelling as it is!!

Hi Pam
Have a look at Euro Assist. If you have a large van they cope very well and have a better country coverage, especially in eastern europe. For my van and tow car from Iceland to Bulgaria and Norway down to the toe of Italy costs £147 a year. But they are not so good as the RAC for just UK coverage.
Kind regards

I have been looking endlessly for a breakdown company that can provide me with all the fundamentals I need. Having broken down a few times in the last 5 years due to me working away from home and having to travel relatively long distances each day it’s significant for me to find someone reliable and consistent. After comparing breakdown cover I found that

seemed to be one of the more successful companies in the UK. So upon my renewal I will unquestionably give these a try. Anyone tried these out?
