Hi,
We went on our first European jaunt to Spain/Portugal for two weeks and it was fabulous. Just one niggle, when we got up in the morning the underside of the bed was damp. Brian said it may have been the seats were damp before we set off but I dont think they were. We wondered if anyone else has had this problem and what we could do about it.

Usually due to lack of ventilation on the underside of the bed (e.g. chipboard instead of slats).
Or something more medical.
Dougie.

Its due to condensation from the heat of your bodies condensing on a smooth cold flat unventilated surface under the mattress.
You could place a towel underneath the mattress or drill holes in the supporting base to ventilate.
There is an under mattress thing you can buy for boats that will cure it.

Your problem is almost certainly due to condensation forming under the bed cushions/mattress. The solution is to allow ventilation to get to the underside of the mattress, usually accomplished by replacing solid bases with wooden slats, spaced out to allow the air to circulate.
Wow 3 replies in 10 mins!!
Thanks very much for the info - I feel such a fool as it seems obvious now you say.
Yes Dougie I did think Brian was maybe not telling me something..
I will get some slats for under the seats and let you know the outcome.
Thanks again to you all for your rapid help.

Perfectly acceptable, like stuff, wossname and whatchamacallit.
anyway, I thought I'd mention that the average person, over an average 8 hour sleep, breathes out a litre and a half of vapour. Which goes someway to explain the dampness.
