Hi just got my maplin dish nd tried to set it up.

Connected tv to box and set dish approx, the instructions then say:

on remote

Press list
select astra 28

Well my box doesn't give me the option of astra. On the sat bit it says all sats and on pressing the remote it gives me hotbird.

Am I doing something wrong?

If I go into the menu's I can set it to astra but when I go back to the set up screen it is still as above.

Help

I'm noooooo expert Pete, but if you are itching to try it I may be able to help.

I know Hotbird and Astra 2 (the one you want I think) are quite close together, so all I can suggest is that you twiddle your dish a bit, horizontally rather than vertically as it sounds as if you have the elevation about right.

As I say, I'm no expert, so I shall be chuffed to bits if this works.

Cheers

No the bit I am after is the set up box to say Astra all it is saying is Hotbird or All Sats.

The blurb says set to Astra click on BBC1 and then go to the dish twiddling bit.

So I can't set it to Astra therefore no Beeb.

I had a similar issue when i got mine a few weeks ago..

now how did i do it...........errrrrrr

Cant remember exactly but one of the menu options is search for all satellites or something similar. I thought oh well i have nothing to loose so did that and then i got astra 28 and a few others.

never looked back since - can set it up in under a minute and it worked perfectly in the black forest and throughout my visit to germany.

sorry cant be more helpfull but if your really struggling ill go to the motorhome and take a look

If you press list this gives a list of all channels
use the righ and left arrows to move between satellites till you see astra 28deg e
Now scroll down to one of the listed channels say bbc1
If you get no signal then press "info"
This shows the sta signal strength.
Now press 1 and the beeper should start. Turn the telly volume up.

Set the dish horizontal and swing slowly towards the sat pos (approx 150deg (eg 28e)) you will hear the pitch rise. wheni ts fairly high lock the dish. Try turning the LNB if requied. You should see a picture on screen

Press info again and thats it.

Takes me les than a minute ot find the sat now but the lidl tripos trick really helps

very good info phill. I know exactly what pete is on about though as on mine when i had it, it did not show astra on the list at all, no matter which way i pressed the arrows.
I had to tell the box to search for all satellites or install all satellites or something similar and it went off to update the list then came back with all the satellites. I then chose astra and it did not have itv on the list so i had to again tell it to look for all programs on that satellite and then all was perfect.

I remember thinking at the time that oh well ive got nothing to loose so it was a major menu option of update satellites or something similar.
