Thanks bandaid (wish my back would let me ride a GSXR)

If all drivers were to take the bike test i am sure that the roads would be safer. I am sure that by being a biker my driving history is unblemished after 40 years.
We bikers have to be more alert and take more notice of what is happening around us, we don`t use mobiles , or have the missus or the radio to distract us eiher
Sometimes i feel that i am invisible even with headlights on

my favourite rtc of the SMIDSY type.

Knocked off one mid morning, and they bloke said

sorry mate I didnt see you.

theres me riding a bloody great Pan, more lights and florrie strips than a health and safety rep convension, and dressed like coco the friggin clown.

muppets, all of them.

riding a bike, with ( like me TLR ) of 0-145-0 18 seconds, as you say, gives you an edge.

ride safe mate,

keep the black bits pointing downwards

Bandaid like me as soon as you put the invisible suit on and switch on the lights nobody sees you. Motorists are programed to SEE cars buses and lorries not a bike with lights on! or even pedestrians if i come to think of it.
A pan cannot be missed by many eejuts as i call them.

Looks like a nice weekend for a run out.

Cheers Dave p

On a recent trip to Norfolk, from the A1 to Kings Lynn and from there to Gt Yarmouth we were constantly stuck behind artics limited to 40 mph (according to the notice on the back). I have been told that this is to decrease the emissions contributing to global warming. Hmmm I find in the m/home and the car 40 mph keeps me in 4th gear rather than 5th which I would imagine have the opposite effect. Also I think it will lead to accidents due to the "nutters" scraping past in frustration. We saw at least half a dozen "near misses". I believe Tesco is one of the companies involved perhaps they should review this policy?

Shocked Sorry not a Tesco or other supermarket policy but the law for 7.5 tonnes and above. 40 single 50 dual 60 motorway. Oh and over 3.5 tonnes commercial 50 single/dual and 60 motorway. All must have speed limiter by sometime in 2009. MH not in this but dont hold your breath but if MH is over 3.5 then it is 50 single and 60 dual and 70 motorway! Tesco and others should be congratulated in their social responsibility. Wink

Hi all I did not mention in my previous reply that 2 years ago at the age of 56 i took the driving test again to allow me to ride motorcycles over 600 cc. The last time i rode a bike was 30 years ago.
My instructor pointed out that drivers are expected to drive to the national speed limit as conditions allowed. And should not impede progress. To not drive at the speed limit could almost fail the test.

The only question i got incorrect was A pale blue circle with a white 30 on it.
The answer was minimum speed limit.

Has any other oldie re taken their driving test?
