Not a lot of relevance to motorhomers other than what it implies about T-mobile spreading their wings.
I had heard on the teccy news feeds that T-mobile were launching 3G in New York in the last few days, but I was surprised to find that the 5 days @ 50p per day I had swiched on a few days ago in Blighty just carried on working seamlessly when I arrived in Washington DC yesterday (and in Old Alexandria Virginia today). No vodafone-like texts to do this and that, it's just like I was still at home and simply works
Now if only they would do France to add to the existing Germany .....

Another MHF'er used his T Mobile SIM in Germany and was not charged roaming rates. T Mobile however insist that roaming applies with net access overseas even when on sister T Mobile networks. Maybe there is a "fault" in their systems.

T-Mobile has networks in more than Germany, the UK and the US. For example, has anyone tried the network in Holland? Also, has anyone been charged full roaming price for using the German network? I have only read posts (like Gaspode's) saying that the cheap rate has worked for them.

This was discussed a while back. I emailed T mobile and their reply was clear - roaming rates apply on their Dutch and German sister networks. I actually copied and pasted the email. Whether the info they supplied is wrong, or whether Gaspode was lucky, I do not know.

Germany - T-Mobile No Longer Capped, So Try Aldi-Talk
I'm currently sitting in a site in Frankfurt am Main, and I'm afraid that I have to report that T-Mobile must have fixed the 'fault' which allowed people to cap net usage at £1 per day in Germany. I tried it at the first site we stopped at after crossing from Switzerland a few days ago. T-Mobile cleared the whole £7 I had on my PAYG Sim card within a few minutes of going online. Checking my online T-Mobile account confirmed this.
I then bought an Aldi-Talk Starter Kit (from the Aldi supermarket chain) fror €14, which includes €10 of credit. To get the supplied Sim card to work, I first had to register it. The quickest way of doing this is by phone or online and, as my spoken German could be improved, I chose the latter option (using my 3 dongle on a roaming basis - at a cost of around £10). You also have to supply a German address and phone number as part of the process - and of course the form was also all in German. After acceptance, it took just a few minutes for the phone to become enabled. Net connection (at a reasonable 24c per MB) was easy using the Nokia software that came with the phone I was using - I just selected the e-plus network from the drop-down list and it worked first time. There is also a link supplied in the documentation in the starter kit which, when you supply details of your phone, sends you an SMS message which configures it for you. Again, the process is all in German.
Hope this is helpful to anyone heading this way.
The other thing which has pleased me during this trip (which has so far lasted three and a half months) has been my 3 dongle. When it is roaming in countries with a 3 network (e.g Switzerland), it has always got me a connection. While web-browing would be expensive this way, checking mail (which only uses a few KB - assuming there are no attachements) only costs 30p - 40p.
