Have been doing some research on t'internet so that my lovely motorhomefacts palsies do not get eaten alive on our hotly anticipated trip to Loch Lomond.

Many of you have mentioned the midgies and so would like to take this opporchancity to put your minds at rest. The Highland midgie is a fearsome beastie but do not worry Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes They grow their teeth as the months pass so just now they almost gummy so expect a wee nibble at most.

Now if perchance there are a few around which hatched early there are a few precautions you can take. The first is Brewers Yeast Tablets. Apparently the wee b**g**s do not like anyone who smells or tastes like a brewery. You will have to start taking them NOW The same effect can also be acheived by ingesting copious amounts of whisky. Alternatively garlic tablets can be taken. Now these don't actually work but it's your money Wink

Some people are now advocating the use of Neem, although this looks like a made up word I can assure you it is not and I am Scottish person you can trust me Razz Neem for you numpties out there who have not heard of it is an Indian tree. Neem means 'blessing' in Hindu. See look an education as weel Laughing Neem oil has been tested by the Edinbuggers and they say it works and they very clever in Edinbugger so there!!

NOt keen on Neem?? Then how about Shoo??? Now this stuff is supposed to be the bees knees and the cats perjamas in the war against the midge! Now I know it sounds like a wind up but see look does this face tell you lies???? It is a chemical called DMP which was invented by a Scottish Professor, we good at inventions you know, invented loadsa stuff!! It was supplied to the golfers at both Loch Lomond and Gleneagles and those blokes don't waste their money on wubbish. It has also been asked to be supplied to Cambridge Uni...... see that got your attention so it must be good if the Sassenachs want it.

Lastly for those of you who are wanting to smell nice and have soft skin there is Avon Skin So Soft though it has to be the green spray oil stuff. At present this has mixed reviews with some loving it and some well not so much!!

Nearly there guys!! So all of you who are still just about awake at this point, no need ter worry about midgies, they harmless wee souls with a bad reputation. As long as you are prepared its nae bother.

PS There are stockists available for the above stuff. If you don't believe me just google. End of

Urban legend? Maybe, but I've lived in Scotland for 25 years and was eaten alive every time we went to midge country - until a couple of years ago when I heard about Avon Skin so soft, tried it, found they will bite everyone in the crowd except me. Cool

....and Pusser. I use it sometimes when there are no insects because it makes me as soft as a babies bum. It must work a bit like polyfilla as you skin immediately feels almost oddly smooth. Fingers don't hold things as well either.

Carol hon, I can't come to loch Lomond,

I aint got me RV yet ( next week unless the pirates have struck) and I got to work all that weekend.

( why are pirates called pirates.....................'cos they ahhhhrrrr)

Harry Pot. wont function without me, I'm that important.

or, more accurately, I cant afford to pay someone else to do the work.

I like the first bit best, but the second is more accurate. Crying or Very sad Embarassed Rolling Eyes
