I'm currently on a site just outside La Rochelle in France and need to get hold of a USB Serial Converter cable. Can anyone recommend any PC World style stores where I'd be likely to purchase one?

We have recently closed all of the PC City stores in France because the format didn't work. I find that any of the Hypermarkets have an extensive computer accessories range. Should find what you want in Carrefour or Auchan.

There is a chain called FNAC in France - a rather superior PC World. They'll have the bit you want but I don't know if there is a branch in La Rochelle.

Thanks for the replies folks. There doesn't appear to be a FNAC in La Rochelle but there is a Carrefour just up the road so I'll try there first.
