I would imagine that reversing that Kontik you have Peter from the bottom area back up to the workshop should show up any judder as it is quite steep, but not 1 in 4 .I am having discussions with my Fiat dealer next week to see what he makes of it all.while he fixes my ABS.

We are clever, we do three point turns and come up the normal away, we might be in Sussex but we aren't that 'backward'

If an Automatic box judders, backwards or forwards, I think you will need a new one!!
They operate rather differently to a manual box
I would agree if you were talking about a latest series Sprinter, which has a proper autobox. But these new Fiat boxes are not conventional automatic gearboxes, but 'robotised manuals', and they actually operate rather similarly to a manual...
There is a test in May's MMM. which gives reversing a clean bill of health (including uphill with no judder), but was a bit lukewarm, I felt, on the gear changing - referring to a "throw forward" effect, as the gearbox paused.
We are about to order a Murvi with this gearbox - do I need to worry about the "throw forward"?

The autobox was excellent and although on this trip (only 3rd party insurance remember) Duncan drove. We have now got almost 1300kms on it just to get us home, but a good decent journey to give it a long run.
The gearing seemed good, you only really noticed the move from 1st to 2nd and then unless you looked at the speedo you wouldn't know which gear you were in.
Duncan's comment on a long slow hill, was he would have changed down earlier than it did (from watching the speedo) but I think it is one of those things one will get used to over time.
It drove very happily along the autoroutes at 100-110 all the way without any problem. Fuel consumption at this stage is really too soon....
So far so good.
Now to get the thing properly on the road, courtesy of the DVLA
The only reversing that was done, was relatively flat and slow and no signs of problems.
Although I must say I believe the problem was due to the non-existant handbrake (it wasn't working)
We decided to try it on our sloping drive as we were leaving on Sunday, but Duncan put it into reverse but because the handbrake wouldn't hold, it just slipped out and went forward, we got back yesterday and haven't tried it since then, too much to do when we got in, and we were facing the wrong way..... Will let you know when we do get to try a proper reverse.
