I'm new to your site - so I hope you don't mind a question straight off but I've a problem... The rear wheels of my Talbot Express (1989) are running really hot after just a few miles. I've tried replacing the bearings and brakes but with no joy. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Are you over tightening the back bearings?, if I remember correctly they are tapered bearings that have to a certain amount of end float, they are only nipped up very lightly and the nut pinned to stop the nut loosening back off . Overtightening will cause more friction and substantial wear. If not that then it can only be binding brakes.

Does the M/H 'feel' like the brakes are binding when you drive? do the wheels turn freely when you raise the vehicle and spin them?
It's possible that the brakes are overadjusted, (small click wheel on a bar between the brake shoes or a ratchet and pawl arrangement depending whether Girling or Bendix make) also the parking brake can be over adjusted which could cause similar symptoms, how hot are the wheels getting? can you hold your hand on them
