I assume freeview is available in Ireland. Am I correct in that assumption?

Cheers,

Bob

Quite simply, no.
Most of Ireland is still only covered by VHF rather than UHF so most analogue TVs will not work either. There is a programme to move directly to DVB-T but progress is very slow at the moment.

Freeview is available in Northern Ireland, Down south you should be able to pick up 3 or 4 channels with a standard aerial. A Sky box/dish would be best option to cover all channels.

Hi Bob, have a look at this site http://www.irish-tv.com/irishtrans.asp it gives all the info you are looking for. Just for the record if you bring a sat box, Sky, Freesat, etc. you will be able to pick up all that is available in the UK but a 60/80 cm dish is best for the west of Ireland.
