Ah well!!! today see's us just four days short of 3 months since our lovely 1995 Compass Drifter 460 went back to the supplying dealer to have repair work done on a severe water ingress problem, which had not been revealed to us when we bought it, work which was going to take two weeks to complete !!!! the list and variety of excuses received during that time is quite astounding. Because the motorhome is in Hampshire & we live in Lincolnshire, the prospect of travelling down there on a regular basis is quite daunting considering that we are living on my state pension only. Despite very regular phone calls, letters, E.mails etc. we seem to be getting nowhere at all, and feel very "fobbed off" it's all very frustrating. I know you are going to ask why I bought from a dealer so far away, well it's a long story, but suffice it to say we did! it has turned out to have been a major blunder. The only reason we agreed to allowing this dealer to undertake the job is because the Courts Mediation Service brokered the arrangement, and they have turned out to be less than helpful. Oh yes, it's all going through the system, and a date before the "beak" looms, but none of that gives us any pleasure, we just want our motohome back Watch this space.

Ouch !

Is it too late to reject the van altogether and insist you be given your money back ? It's clearly not fit for purpose if its been off the road for 3 months

I can fully sympathise as I am in the same position myself with a van just short of its first birthday. We too cannot use it and understand the frustration you must be feeling. We would love to just jump in ours (it is still sat in the drive) and go but...........................................

Welcome owdsmiffy. So sorry your first intro. to MHF is with such a sad tale of woe.

My first thought when reading your post was - it should really be of no consequence how far away your dealer or repairer is, the customer care and service you receive should be as they indicated when you first took the vehicle there. You should not have to chase with letters, e:mails etc. where ever they are located.

Cloud cookoo land I know Sad Sad Sad

Hope the story starts to improve soon

Sue

Well folks, many thanks for the encouraging responses, I can feel the grumpiness fading as I type, and will the person with the magic wand please reveal themselves!!!! I've just rung Global Basingstoke, and lo and behold they say that our motorhome is almost????? ready and they want to deliver it back to us tommorow. Hmmmmm now where have I heard that before, the problem is, they say, the M.O.T. has expired, well I knew that already!!!!!! so maybe, just maybe, we might have to rethink that, but ah! yes we're coming up to Lincoln tommorow to recover our stock that's been on display at the Links show and we could bring yours with us, buttttttttt there's just this problem of the M.O.T. yes!!!!! we might have to get back to you on that WHAT???????? hav'nt they heard of TRADE PLATES? Oh I'm getting grumpy again.

Well we could have rejected it , but we'd been searching for just this van for almost a year, you know right chassis ,engine ,layout ,etc, etc, etc and were over the moon with it untill this problem reared it's ugly head, so we decided to go down the legal road instead, and we contacted the small claims court in Lincoln, who put us in touch with the courts mediator, and the rest is history, as they say.
