Am I being dense, or would it not be pretty easy to write into the firmware the ability to recognise A and B roads?
This would not present a perfect solution I know, since some B roads are pretty narrow in certain areas of the country, but it would help a great deal.
Those details are certainly contained in the current mapping however, and for lorry and motorhome drivers it would be a massive improvement if we could opt for "A roads or larger" and "B roads or larger".
Dunno - I'm not a programmer, but it sounds a lot easier than re-surveying every road to find their minimum width measurement.

Exactly.
And also generally speaking the more characters or numbers in a road number the narrower it is which is why the A1 is bigger than the b1066. B roads nearly always have 3 characters. You never see the b43 ot the b75
It would be easy if you could see the route calculated on the nuvi but it goes into that much detail its a nightmare to even check the route.
Oh and i havent heard from Gramin yet. Not that i expected to.

My Tom Tom does it and I often ignore it if the road does not look right.
Unfortunately I did not ignore it when in France last Month and ended up by going down a steep hill which got narrow and at the bottom was a tunnel that would only take cars.
Needless to say I have a new Fiat and the reversing judder had a field day with the distinct smell of a burning clutch
