Hi everyone,

Just thought I would introduce Hermann the Hymer, we've owned him for over a year now and have had some excellent adventures. Hermann is a 1979 Mercedes based Hymer-Mobil originally supplied to Holland and is fitted with a 3 litre diesel. There is no turbo fitted so journies are generally conducted at a gentler pace (especially on hills)! The interior is excellent having a 'U' shaped dining area which folds to a double bed as well as the trademark overhead pull down bed. We have a separate shower room/toilet and blown air central heating via a gas heater. The water heater is a rather alarming blow torch affair made by Attwood and although it regularly tries to take my head off each time its lit works stunningly well supplying us with hot showers and scaring off the unwary each time it automatically turns itself on and off, we do warn people about this but there's always one - we can usually tell by the smell of smouldering hair (only joking)! Laughing
If anyone has a workshop manual and handbook we would be very grateful, identifying the base vehicle is difficult because it states that its a 601D on the chassis plate (VIN 601******), but no-one seems to recognise this model. The closest seems to be a 208 designation - any thoughts anyone?
Any way, thats all for now, see you around!
