hi there, im looking at replacing my broken water pump on my camper which hasnt worked since i bought it, it doesnt say what kind of pump it is but it looks like a smaller version of the shurflo (not submersible) kind im looking at on ebay.
i will only be using it to pump water from my container to the sink (approx 1m up) no heating etc.

i am wondering if i can get away with buying the submersible type as they seem much cheaper? anyone know if this will do the job? advantages/disadvantages over eg shurflo water pumps??

many thanks
matt

Hi

The sureflow type pump works when you open a tap...it is controlled by the pressure in the pipe...open the tap,the pressure in the pipedrops, and the pump starts pumping automatically. The submersible ones need a switch in the tap, usually a microswitch to start the pump when the tap is opened. Open tap, switch closes , pump pumps Wink

So unless you do some mods to the taps, you will, I think need a Sureflow type of pump.

Mike

Hi it is as Mike says but the other way around it is adding a switch(manual) and submercible pump( around 7 to 12 quid )like a light switch that you open tap then turn on switch to start water then off to stop. This worked fine in a small camper with a 5 gallon bottle under the sink and switch on the side of sink unit.Dead simple for pumped water and no stupid expensive micro switches or MS,Taps

Good thinking Terry ... and best maybe to use a press button switch on the side of the cupboard / sink unit ...press to pump...that way it cannot be left on.
