Does anyone have any advice re the above please. My free 6 months with my phone has expired and they want, what I consider too much to renew.... is there a free version available anywhere? I already pay for AVG professional and didn't manage to find a mobile version I could use under that contract, is there one?

Any advice/help offered would/is greatly appreciated.

Carol

It's been a year since I retired as an information security manager, so things may have moved on, however whilst phone viruses were in theory possible, and there had been one or two, you would have to be extremely unlucky to get one.

Personally, I wouldn't bother

... and disable bluetooth

Gerald - it is an HTC TYTN II - running Win 6 Pro

Bagshanty - I did wonder about this, but thought if there was a free one it would be worth finding, only I didn't yet....

Carol - I have a TyTn 11 running Windows Mobile 6.1 on a reflashed ROM. I always switch off 3g, WiFi and BT as a matter of course and enable them when I need them, this has a massive effect on battery life and I find is as secure as one reasonably needs to be.
