hi there.
we just bought a flat screen tv for our motorhome, and it does have an aerial connection and aerial on roof.
was just wondering how we would go about getting sky or english tv travelling through europe?
pretty new to this stuff and walking a bit blind, so any info would help.
Thanks everyone!

Yep. Best service around and as cheap as anybody. Very Happy

Get his advice on a decoder as well. The Dreambox option may raise a bit of controversy here (Gulp!) and it's not exactly cheap, but it's very versatile and will receive pretty much anything that's transmitted - assuming of course that you subscribe to the service. Very Happy

Lightning fast too - I can beat most self-seeking dishes to a good lock, and I use a Maxview Crankup. Cool Cool

Hope this helps.

Hi Sarah and welcome aboard the ship.

The type of program you want to watch may well influence the type/size of satellite dish you buy.

For example, BBC1, 2 and ITV are broadcast from the ASTRA2D satellite. Imagine the satellite like a giant torch, up there in the sky and shining towards earth. As the channels mentioned are theoretically for the British Isles, the floodlight from the torch is focused on the UK, Chester to be precise. The further away from the UK you are, the weaker the signal and the larger a dish you will require.

I use an 85cm dish and have on many an occasion watch Corrie and BBC in northern Italy. Dish size is the key really.

Take a look at

- the latter will give you an idea of what reception you will get in certain countries.

In respect of where to buy, I have never bought from Shane but have telephoned him for advice on a couple of occasions when I have been assisting campers on the site to set up their systems.

There are also other satellites in the sky, such as Hotbird and Hispasat, broadcasting in Europe, with some English channels on them. I have no experience of these though.

I use a SKY receiver so get BBC, Sky channels and all sorts of rubbish, plus, important for me, the radio.

Regards

Russell
