I can also state that the Avtex is a superb piece of kit, albeit you need a strong signal with freeview, which is not always available with the status aerial.
I do have a problem, however. I wanted to use the card reader to view photo's from my camera, but alas, my camera uses XD cards, and the Avtex does not take these.
I have been told (by Avtex) that a card reader which needs no seperate software (i.e. plug and play) and which supports USB 1.1 will work using the USB socket. However, I have tried three so far, and the tele just reports, no usb device.
Has anyone tried, and found an XD card reader which does work with this, OR does anyone know if there is such a unit which takes XD cards and plugs into one of the other card slots, converting from XD to say SD.

Hi
I can confirm that an external card reader does work.I used mine last weekend, and it worked a treat. The card reader is a Dazzle hi speed usb 2.0.My camera card is a compact flash.Hope this helps.
I am beginning to think that the USB socket on my Avtex is faulty, as I have tried 3 USB card readers, all supposed to be 1.1 compatible, which Avtex say it should, but it does not recognise the USB device!
Maybe I should go back to Avtex to see what warranty is on the TV!
Thanks for your input,
Michael

We have the 19" Avtex 7 in 1 TV which we bought from Transleisure last year and we have been very pleased with all the functions and the quality of the picture. Haven't used the freeview as we have Sky in the van nor have we tried the card reader so I cannot comment of that side of the TV but everything else we have tried has been great and we have had no problems. Fingers crossed that it remains that way as they are rather on the expensive side - but I guess you get what you pay for (hopefully!)

My old camera took xD cards. I bought a converter which the xD slots into making it ..erm... I think it was SmartCard? Hmm, I'll have a look for it tonight and check. Whatever it was, it worked fine for downloading onto a laptop but we only recently bought the Avtex telly so I haven't tried it on that. (new camera uses compact flash). I'm sure I've seen an xD to USB devise as well.
our old 10" portable in the van has died and I'm looking at the various options. Impressed with the reputation of the Avtex, less so with the price but some places are offering 5 year warranties so not so bad I guess. One question though, I'm not looking for it to be wall mounted, we've a nice cupboard with turntable in it and I want it to live in there but can find no mention of stand? will it be as stable as our nice elderly cube in transit or will it need packing away? and what sort of stand does it come with - and does it make it taller (we're short of height space).
I'm also confused and need to know - do we just plug it into the 12v or do we need a regulator as well?
Anyone any other suggestions?
Thanks
David

Not sure on the stand with the 10"... will check for you tomorrow.
Don't need regulator, its built in already.
Have you thought about the 15" Mobile TV...? it fits most cupboards that previously had a CRT 10" in... its quite compact. Slightly cheaper than Avtex. Avtex is the best you can get in mobile TV and unfortunetly you pay for that fact.
