I have just got a Ford Transit 350 LWB HiTop and rather then converting, I am thinking of using either an awning or an annexe. Reason being, it has the dog cages I need build in, all 6 of them fully airconditioned and washable, six seats in back, so putting a microwave, table & portaloo would do me fine, as it has hand wash in, too.

Any ideas?

Can't afford an awful lot as van was quite a bit of money but well worth it.

Hi Annegret
I shall be hoping to read the replies to your post as I have a Movano van which we are going to convert but at the moment I have been using it with additions put in. I show lowchens so have my own cages. Was your van purchased from one of the dog papers I think a friend of mine mentioned seeing it. I have bought an awning type shelter from Aldi it was quite cheap but will do for the moment. I fancy a free standing awning but better half thinks the attached ones are better.
Are you at Leeds this weekend I will be there on Sunday if you are about I will be round the benches Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
Cynthia

Cynthia,

I do Obedience and Agility. Van is Ex-Police dog section van, hence the luxuries of airconditioned cages Very Happy
As I said, I would be looking at some sort of wind out awning or family room as I really fancy the seats and storage the van offers at the moment.
I'll keep you posted. Laughing

Hi
I do working trials. Used to have VW LWB with 4 cages in the back. 2 up two down. Apart from the front the cages were constructed of wood and fully enclosed. Going from the bulkhead at the rear of the cages we managed a settee that converted to a small double double bed, plus a kitchen & wardrobe running down the right side from cab to cages. 12v/240 electrics, blown air heating, and running cold water. Did the conversion ourselves as we needed this design to accomodate the dogs. Used it for 7 yeras no problems.

Re; Awnings. I have a roll out canopy on my van but seldom use it. You have to be very careful if its windy or even a strong gusting breeze and you have the added hassle of having to put it away every time you move.

An attached awning also has to be attached and detached every time you want to use the van.

I use a double Outhouse Revolution. £40 Very quick and easy for one person to erect, less than 15 minutes including pegging. Freestanding and not attached to the van.

as you probably know lots of obedience people use the Kyham Screenhouse. If is only for sleeping in a small dome tent would do.

all down to the individual and their needs. but its worth its weight in gold to be able to cook inside the camper.

Good luck at your shows. Off to Scarborough on Sunday to a dog trial
