I am in the process of having a mobility scooter provided by HMG but I wonder if there would be any problem i using it on the continent and, in particular charging the battery on site. Any other tips would be welcomed.

Hi I use the same so have some experience of this.
The easiest way to charge your batteries is from the normal charger. This will have a UK 3 pin plug on it and works of 240 volts.
In France take the charger with you and if using sites and EHU just charge as normal. You may need an extension lead to go fro the van 3 pin plug out to your charger if the charger lead is not long enough.
If you are going to mostly use Aires as we do I would recommend fitting an invertor to the van.
My way of doing it, the scooter is carried in the garage the invertor is behind the passenger front seat and connected to 2 110 amp batteries. I have a long extension lead routed from the invertor into the garage (too complicated to say how this was done here).
Whilst on the move the charger is plugged into the xtension lead and invertor switched on, thus charging scooter batteries while on the move and not discharging leisure batteries too much as they are being charged from the vehicle.
Hope the above makes sense, good luck
Pete
