Cheap as anywhere and you get your member discount too. Rolling Eyes

I got to the final page buying our system on outdoorbits then it hit me for £40 carriage.

I paid the same price on to

and paid £6.80 carriage.

I emailed outdoor bits, did get a reply that said your software is crap ( though not quite in those words ) and that I should have rung up but at 10 O'clock at night I just cancelled outdoorbits and ordered from the others.

A year on someone was complaining about being ripped off for high carriage costs and managed to get a refund. I think it was for as much as £12 from memory.

To be blunt, if the software can't be fixed in a year then we have to consider that it's a "nice little earner".

I have purchased from outdoorbits since, every purchase is individually based on merit here.

I just did a "dummy purchase" and got shipping of £11.75 which I thought was pretty reasonable for 2x 11 Kg cylinders etc etc

No error messages or anything

What was the problem with your transaction Hilldweller?

Cheers

I just did the same. 5 items. Calc Carriage -- £30

I do not know what the opposition charge but since this is one cylinder and a few bits that would fit in the same box it's far too expensive.

It is however £10 cheaper than last year.

So far I have priced up Waubys', Gaslow and Outdoor bits. Outdoorbits come in the cheapest thus far. Have phoned ODBs as I have a couple of queries - have had to leave a message as their answer phone was on - am awaiting a callback from them. Carriage is not a problem as I can pick up from where-ever. Will post results later
Thanks to all respondees (love that word)

Cheers

Gaslow is a great system and fairly easy to fit if your a good DIYer, make sure you use plenty of PDF tape to seal the joins! (PTF?). Make sure you don't get any twists in the filler pipes as this extends the fill-up time and makes your thumb ache.

.

Invest a bit more and buy the stainless steel braided hoses. Its a metal to metal union, no need to use any mating compound( Shocked ) or PTFE. When I fitted my No2 cylinder using SS hoses it eliminated the slight smell I was getting from a rubber hose.

I got mine at a good price from Dick Lane Motorhomes in Bradford, some excellent advice as well.

No problems fitting it and no leaks since.

That could be interesting because I suspect that a lot of these internet order people stock nothing and just pass on the order to, say, Gaslow, who dispatch direct. I say this because orders I have placed for multiple items sometimes arrive from multiple directions.

One order was an electric bike, placed order with some guy in London and bike came direct from importer in Scotland.

I'm not implying anything untoward just that, say, Gaslow, might not have facilities for collection.

We had Gaslow fitted but cannot mention the company due to the crap service we recieved. I feel I should have done the installation myself due to a couple of minor niggles.( apart from the 4 hour labour charge for a half hour job!)
The system is really good but you need to shop around, the stainless pipes are far superior to the standard rubber ones, just don't get any kinks in them!

ODB have been reasonable price wise but the fact that you get charged delivery on each item (when they could all be in one small parcel) has prevented me from using them again. Dave PM'd me as to the reasons why but we all want a fair price for each item with a fair cost of delivery and if the end cost is more than someone else for the whole order then the order will go elsewhere.
If Gaslow sell direct then I would go to them as they have been very helpful to us with advice and an understanding voice on the 'phone.
