We have just purchased a 7 berth although we are still taking to option of a tent for the older 2.
We needed storage, we need home space and when travelling take the opportunity of keeping everyone apart.
Looked at the Americans and there is no question they have almost everything but, in my opinion the craftmanship found in the europeans and they are expensive to run.
So, after 18 months we have settle for a Burstner 747/2 it had the over-head cab and rear bed, so I can slip away early if i needed to without unduly having to rush to get everyone dressed
Not knowing much about motorhoming any choice is a risk but the space in terms of storage, sleeping (7) and in-cab space is excellent.
There are a few more experienced 747 owners on here and its worth you talking to them
Best of luck with you hunt
Kind regards
Hugh

just a little note, the main option (in my opinion) is how much dissposable cash do you have to spend on the MH of your dreams
that will determine what kind of MH you eventually get............i know it sounds harsh, but there is no other way of putting it.
as described by hugh, the burstner 747 or 8/2 is a fine beast but is quite expensive and there is lots to buy after you have purchased it, i am near the 2.5k mark already and i am nowhere near the end yet!!!!
BUT i believe it will more than cope with a big family

we have a 7 berth Eura Mobil 770 HS (which may also be for sale in a few months)
This has a double over the cab, a dinette that converts into a double, a bench seat opposite the dinette that is a single and a rear lounge that converts to a kingsize bed.
There is also adequate seating for 7 with the rear lounge also having a dining table.
Also no shortage of storage as it has douoble floor providng a massive storage area.
Also if you intend buying from Germany these are german built.
Hope that helps
