Cruise Control is a marvelous adjunct to a motorhome...

Yes indeed. Wish I had one.

Paradoxically (for this thread at least) I have more problems on the motorway in keeping up to a speed than exceeding it.

I like to drive at about an indicated 60mph, but find if the traffic is light and I have nobody to follow I constantly lose speed down as low as 50mph, then notice the speedo and have to accelerate again.

Anyone else find themselves doing this, or is it time to call in the men in white coats? Shocked Shocked Shocked

My statements cover the vast majority of drivers. Check any line of vehicles in a 30MPH area.
For those of a certain age who can't see the speedometer....well!!!!

Zebedee,

If you really think that the fixed radar speed traps are "often carefully hidden grey boxes" maybe it's time for a visit to Specsavers!

They are alway preceded by a great big warning sign. Unmistakeable.

The biggest threat comes from the Gendarmerie with their mobile speed traps, often using unmarked cars. Lots of those about. Luckily the drivers going the other way tend to flash a warning. Which is brave of them because they can be fined for doing that.

SD

PS Only joking, I'm not really insinuating that you might need a white stick and guide dog. Sorry. Wink

My mission in life is to excedd all posted limits I can fiind, and exceed them by at least 20 %.

I find the most satisfying breaking of speed limits to be those that are in towns, especially when I drive by a school, old peoples home or a hospital.
As a by product, almost, I try to avoid stopping at red traffic lights. I dont find this to be particularily enjoyable in its own right, but more as a means to the exceeding speed limits, as slowing down for traffic lights somewhat gets in the way of maintaining highly illegal speeds.

I used to be really good at driving at or under the posted limits, but I worked out that unless someone exceeds the speed limits, then 2 things ( at least ) occurs.

(i) the government have very little income.
and

(ii) those more sanctimonious have nothing to be sanctimonious and seflcongratulatory about.

Wink

back on topic, I think the difference t'wixt spped cameras and red lights maybe......speed cameras are self explainitory, and red lights denote houses of ill repute.

so Pusser told me.....dont know who told him tho'

Made I larf that did. Good on yer!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

"Sanctimonious" - good word that. One of my favourites too. Rolling Eyes

As for Pusser, I think he holds a patent on red lights, especially ones above doorways or in dimly lit bay windows.

Truly a man of vision!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Thank you, kind Sir, I post only to provide some small pleasure on an otherwise tedious and dull Sunday.
