Hi all.
I have been reading the posts here for some time now while I have been thinking of rejoining the motorhoming family.
We had a mh a few years ago when our sprogs were small and loved the travel freedom, but you know what its like, they get bigger and .. oh well I won't bore you with my very first post.
As I am semi retired now I have no more excuses for not being a motorhomer again..
I am considering an Auto Trail Miami 740 with the twin rear beds and would aprreciate any comments and advice from anyone who has experience of one of these.

I have read enough to expect teething problems, so how do you all find AutoTrail for customer service?

Welcome to MHF Trevor.

I think I'm right in thinking that the Autotrail Miami range were on Renault chassis and production was discontinued last year when Autotrail dropped Renault. So if you were after a new one you're probably too late, although I think all the Miami layouts are available in the other Autotrail ranges, presumably with Fiat or Merc chassis.

If you're after a used Miami then most, if not all, of the possible teething probs will have been sorted by the first, or subsequent, owner/s.

We too looked at the Miami 740S as the layout suited us, but we eventually plumped for the Knaus Sun Ti 650ME which has two single beds (can be one full width double) and a large(ish) garage. The Miami has an full width end washroom but no real garage. We do not regret our choice! Lowdhams at Nottingham had a second hand ME the other week but I see that it has now disappeared from their website

Thanks for the welcome and replies.

There are a still the last few unregistered Renault Miami's still around and its one of those I am considering.

I will let you know what I decide when I have viewed and tested one.

lf it doesn't suit it will be up to the NEC for us in a couple of weeks.

We have had our Miami 740S since new in June 2007 and we love it, wouldn't consider changing it for anything. Obviously a few teething problems but most sorted out now. Biggest problem seems to be the heater which is under the nearside bed and the top almost touches the underside of the mattress. It seems that earlier models suffered from a lack of ventilation under the bed for the heater. Auto Trail put in a slot at floor level on later models and we had two cut-outs put in the side of the bed box and two plastic grills fitted by the dealer. Seems to have worked to some extent but still gets quite warm when on 'water only' heating (doesn't seem to happen quite so much when heating is on as I assume the fan then keeps it cooler). We still get a smell something like 'hot carbon' when in hot water only mode. We only have hot water on when required so as soon as showering or washing up is done we turn it off again. We also open one of the cupboard doors under the bed to give it more ventilation.

The table was awkward to use as it has a single leg and was a bit low. The dealer fitted a different (larger base) fitment in the floor and a longer leg and that seems to work a lot better provided you push it well into the floor before use and don't lean on it too much.

Hi like you I have been looking for a Miami 740s but cannot find one at all. The configuration is exactly what I am looking for and I even looked at the 840 but just a little too long and with the tag axle would mean in five years time I may not be allowed to drive it also I would want to tow a small car and this would make it a very long unit. I have also looked at many configurations including where the washroom is forward but this does make the front area closed in. If anyone out there knows of one for sale please let me know.
