Hi all , I have a status omni directional fitted to my 97 valencia as you know the reception on these models is variable to say the least.
I have been thinking of upgrading to a status directional as i hear these are much better.....the question is does anyone know if i could do a direct replacement with the old model , that is , use the existing mounting area that the old model currently occupies....remember that this was factory fitted some 12 years ago and i have concerns about removing the old one without causing damage to the roof , if anyone out there has done this sort of replacement i would love to know.

A hole is required for the adjustable mast which is normally down into a cupboard or wardrobe

But you can get a purpose made blanking plate to seal the hole from the original aerial if it's in the wrong place - which it will be unless you are extremely lucky. Rolling Eyes

Have you considered a satellite dish? We had a Status "swordfish" directional (digital) aerial, and it was better than the flying saucer but not startlingly so.

Ok - I'll tack my fairly fundamental queries on this thread on my Status 530 aerial/booster as installed on my Rapido 741F . Having established the geographical location of the TV Transmitters and whether they are Vertical or Horizontally polarised do I:

a. If its Vertical Polarisation at the Transmitter does that mean the Status 530 is set to Vertical ie on its edge and if its Horizontal polarisation does that mean I keep the 530 flat ie like a dish on a table ???

b. Do I point the pointy end at the transmitter location ??

c. What are these telescopic bits for at either end ??

I did the change on my AT Tracker.
The original aerial (315) was positioned over the amplifier in the wardrobe.
The one hole through the roof was for the coax cable only.
The new aerial (530) required a suitable sized hole for the post. (The coax is inside the post).
The post raises and turns the aerial from inside the wardrobe.
The footprint of the new aerial covered the screw holes and coax hole of the old aerial.
There are two lengths of post available....I chose the shorter one (it's meant to fit into normal roof lockers) so as not to interfere with the stored table in the wardrobe.
It works very well in the UK and Northern Europe.

Warning.... in my MH there is a cable in the insulation where I cut the hole in the roof. Luckily I cut the fibre glass on the roof then removed it. I then cut the ply wood ceiling and removed that. This exposed the unknown wire and the polystyrene insulation which I removed with a knife.

PS. I check where other aerials are pointing the push it up and turn it that way.
Or push it up and tune in....poor pictures?....turn it until all is well, then retune.
