Depends on your bottle and set up. I have a fill hose and a regulator which comes directly off of the bottle to the van gas supply. One hose in, one hose out- job done!

That's exactly what my set up is. The black hose is the fill hose. I dangle this out of the van to "remote" fill. You can get a metal fill pipe that connects directly to the bottle.

If you are talking about refilling none refillable bottles the adapters sell on fleabay for about £30 BUT you need to manually guess the 80% fill mark (via the litres filled) to allow for expansion. Get it wrong and there could be trouble.

what l am trying to say is why do l need to spend money on a black hose which l dont want .

can l not just fill up my new refilable bottle without spending anymore money on it,or buy a black hose l dont want or a metal bracket for £17 to hold a filler l also dont want.

if you see what l mean

(l do not want to fill up a red bottle)

Got you. You've got a gaslow haven't you? My hose came with mine without paying extra. In european regs it is allowed to directly fill your bottle but there is some tosh in the UK that makes fuel retailers spout a load of nonsense about it not being allowed.

The only reason to fit a device to allow for the filling is that each country(ish) has their own design of LPG connector. This does fit directly to the bottle for filling. Hope that makes sense.

You don't need to buy anything you don't want but if you can't afford the kit to fill bottles safely, why bother? As I have said before, natural selection will look after you.
Please stop telling people they don't understand your problem - you haven't explained what the problem actually is!!
If you have a 50ltr tank why do you need more? Can you not afford to fit an external point to run your barbie like most people have?

havnt told anyone yet.

but having spent 4 hrs in brownhills in Canterbury waiting for a bad repair to be sorted l was looking at whatever l could to find interesting.

re fillable gas was the best they had to interest me,l could not work out why at £95 for a bottle l needed anything as it was all in my van at present. On further reading l noticed/found out that l had to buy a single bottle kit which gave me a remote filling point and to mount this l needed a remote filling bracket.

My point was why could l not just fill the bottle !this has now explained thanks.

ps yes l can afford it and have it if l want to break the law a point to use the barbi .if the vans pointing the wrong way then the rubber hose is to long and being correct l use a shorter hose and connect it to the bottle not the large tank, like you probably do as well .

ps blame Brownhills for this whole conversation.

d'oh! I'm glad that's sorted. If you are just going to use it for the BBQ, do as we do, and use a Calor or Flowgas bottle, thats what we do as the BBQ does not use much gas, and can always be used as back up. Bob. Smile
