....and the answer to the original question is, as expected, no - there is no avoidance for bridges etc.
Interestingly, my Nuvi 350 can be set to be anything from a pedestrian, to an intergalactic space probe (I'm lying about that one!). My new, all singing all dancing 760 can only choose between being a car, a pedestrian, and a bicycle. Maybe this is indicative of Garmin's intentions regarding routing options?

If you ask Garmin what the difference is they will tell you that it only changes the estimated time of arrival. Car is quickest, the truck (slower speed) then bus (has to stop for passengers) THAT's IT
BUT I have proved to them that the routing is different. They seem reluctant to agree with me

At the NEC yesterday I was looking at the new Snooper GPS which has a facility to input vehicle sizes height, length, width, weight and whether towing a trailer. I am told all of these have some effect on the route planned. Having been told a similar story by a Garmin salesman, I am sceptical to it's ability to take avoidances on unsuitable roads. Anyone got one?

There was a thread here a few weeks ago when the Snooper was discussed at length, and several interesting questions raised. Have a read and make your own conclusions, but I don't think it will become a best seller.
Suggest you have a search -

one link to be going on with, but I think there are more references in other threads.
I've just down loaded the 2009 mapping to my laptop, but I can't remember how to get the info from the laptop to the Zumo unit! I left all the info in a mates loft before we left. I have the usb cable from laptop to unit cable, any one have a manual handy ?
