Has anyone successfully masked or otherwise converted their New Daily to dip to the right (as per Left hand Drive) ?

I have no user manual, which ought to contain the answer for this legal requirement, and My Iveco Service Center (York) has no advice in regard to adjusting the dipped beam patten of my "New" Daily 35c18 (2007) for Continental driving. Their only advise was to buy some Left Hand Drive headlights ... I have ordered some but before I part with the £300 ... are there any other alternatives?

The RHD to LHD light swap seems to be a fairly simple, "Just undo two bolts and pull, then disconnect the wires, fitting is the reverse" says the "friendly" Iveco Mechanic ... With practice 15 mins waiting for the ferry will get the job done I hope.

This situation is made more annoying by the fact my RHD van was originally supplied with LHD lights that were swapped for RHD under warranty ... the ones removed were left in a storage bin for return to Iveco (they wouldn't let me keep them)... they were still there today 9 months after removal ... but they were scratched and broken beyond re-use. Embarassed

My aim it to achieve a practical solution to poor dipped beam illumination for safety's sake, not to discuss the legalities/practicalities of using uncorrected or poorly corrected lights Wink

Thanks in anticipation.

OK with a little trial and error I've answered my own questions ... just in case anyone has the same problem the part you need to mask is the opposite side of the light to the area you want to dim. There are no markings on the glass so the only option is to shine the lights on to a wall and move a bit of card about to find the right position to place your mask (gaffa tape or the fancy sticky silvers stuff that is hard to get off and clean)
you will have to mark the position in some way so you can see where to place the mask each time you need it ...
Unfortunately it seems that this mask will block the wide fog light beam that goes trough the same section of glass which is bad but probably legal.

It seems masking even with the fancy silver reflective stuff dose not effect the amount of light illuminating the right hand side.

So now I'm £340 lighter and have a second set of headlights set for LHD ... I can change them over in less than 10 minutes ... you do have to unscrew the top radiator grill (4 screws) before you can access the bottom bolt of each light. ... and the lights although big are plastic and therefore light enough to handle easily and they disappear into the Laika Kreos 2003's belly locker (the large shallow section I haven't found a use for so far) rapped securely in a couple of old towels. Very Happy

I wonder what the legality of using one LHD and one RHD headlight is if they are correctly masked ... Shocked ...

Did you have to buy a set of LHD's. Is It not possible to alter the beam by changing the beam pattern from the rear of the units.! Euro beams are a more central pattern than uk ones .

There is no leaver Crying or Very sad they are not adjustable ... focusing of the beam is done by the reflector trough clear glass ... hence finding the correct masking position is trial and error.

On the Daily the LHD dipped bean is the exact mirror of the RHD with a strong beam to the right raising at about 30 degrees from dead ahead ... a flat beam is only achieved by masking a RHD (or LHD) light ... with the result that less light is emitted ... this obviously can be done to meet the legal requirements but as it is not as effective as a full swap. For me its £340 & ten minutes each trip well spent as I like to do almost all my long distance driving at night and this makes each trip feel safer and therefore much more enjoyable ... Very Happy
