finally got round to installing my lidl free to air kit , quite impressed as it was easy to install and align with the quality bar guide. happy to say it works fine . ive just bought a digibox on ebay which i intend to hook up to the dish as i want itv1 , c4,c5 , anybody else tried this yet ??
ive still got to get a viewing card from sky probabaly later this week and one of those signal strength meters so i dont have to keep moving tv's to the window . are they any good ???

Roadpro sold me a great little sttelite finder, which has an audible signal strength indicator, and has saved me several domestic arguments.

Hi MandyandDave what sort of results do get with your zen+Multimo [MHF Link], I have the same set up with a grundig box, south of Barcelona we could get only ch 4 sky news and all the shopping channels, others with a big dish got much more, some places it would get nothing even in France it was good somedays othertimes zilch, though Idid keep the zen connected ,does this make a differance? rgds deegod

Map 1
Map 2
Map 3

Map 1 shows the “footprint” of the satellite transponder which transmits Channel 5, Sky News, CNN and many more channels.
The satellite is Astra 2A – south beam.

Map 2 shows the area in which it is possible to receive Channel 4, Sky One, Sky Sports, Sky Films and much more.
The satellite is Astra 2A – north beam.

Map 3 shows the area to which ITV and all BBC TV & radio programmes are broadcast. It is very restricted but, with the correct equipment, stations can be received over a much wider area than would appear to be the case. The satellite is Astra 2D.

Note: These maps are provided by the satellite owners ASTRA – SES. Officially, the inner band is the area covered by a 50cm dish and the outer band the area covered by a 120cm dish. However, the maps seem to be a little pessimistic and, in reality, a 50cm dish will work well into the green band and an 85cm dish will usually reach the outer edge of the orange band. A 120cm + dish will pick up channels well outside the footprint.
For example, according to the footprint maps, even a 120cm dish would be unable to pick up ITV in Barcelona. In reality, a Globesat [MHF Link] (85cm) will probably work and a 120cm dish will pick up ITV even further south. But, always bear in mind that weather and other factors can influence reception.

I think that covers it..get into the habit of removing the finder once signal is established,..slightest rainfall jiggers it!
Not had mine down to the Sunny South yet,but it will be getting used in the SoF in July! I use a 12/240V Pace box btw
